After installing the HP QuickTest Professional Add-In to the ALM/QC I tried to connect a QTP client to the HP ALM server.
- After opening the QTP client.
- Under File toolbar click "ALM/QC Connection"
- Enter http://:8080/qcbin/
- Example: http://SapALM1:8080/qcbin/
- Check Reconnect to server on startup
- Click Connect.

Close all connections to HP ALM Server and try again
Researching the cause I also found an issue loading the Application Lifecycle Management Web interface failed to load because of Extension manifests merger failed but resolving it did not affect the QTP issue connecting to ALM.
Solution
Figured out it was resolved by starting QuickTest Professional as an administrator. You would think it would work considering I was already logged in as an Administrator account and User Account Control was set to never notify but it didn't work till I right clicked and said to run as Administrator.

It worked ...
ReplyDeleteI've just been banging my head against a brick wall with this until I found this post, runnings as administrator definitely works (you can create a shortcut and set that to always run as administrator to save yourself the hassle).
ReplyDeleteStupid QTP...
Great post....it worked.
ReplyDeletethanks a lot
Krishna
it worked for me.....
ReplyDeletegreat....
feeling relieved now :)
Thanks a ton....
Register HP-ALM client on the weblink and try to connect again from QTP. This will fix the issue
ReplyDelete->Executing QTP with admin rights will not fix the issue if ALM Client is not registered
Wolaaa!!! It worked... Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteworked.. thx
ReplyDeleteI have an even more bizarre situation where a user was granted to local administrator and run IE in Admin, he still gets those *.dll were not downloaded. But it worked fine with a domain admin user. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI liked your post. Instead, I would like to share a link that will help to solve a problem with this file msvcp100_dll. I think many who experience this problem. Here is a link to the http://fix4dll.com/msvcp100_dll file download.
